<p><strong>Resumen. </strong>El presente artículo analiza el proceso de radicalización del movimiento estudiantil uruguayo en 1968 a partir de su propia tradición y de las influencias que suscitaron las nuevas ideas circulantes a escala internacional en aquella década. El objetivo es la reflexión en torno a las motivaciones para militar en organizaciones clandestinas, para comprender por qué, a partir de cierta deriva de las movilizaciones y los enfrentamientos con las fuerzas represivas, muchos de aquellos jóvenes estudiantes acabaron dando un salto cualitativo en su militancia, integrándose en organizaciones armadas con objetivos de transformación social revolucionaria. Ello nos permitirá reflexionar acerca del proceso de desarrollo de las organizaciones revolucionarias y del rol que desempeñaron en sus sociedades y momento.</p>

<p><strong>Résumé. </strong>Cet article analyse le processus de radicalisation du mouvement étudiant uruguayen en 1968 à partir de sa propre tradition et des influences des nouvelles idées qui circulaient à échelle internationale au cours de cette décennie. L’objectif est une réflexion sur les motivations amenant à militer dans des organisations clandestines, et comprendre pourquoi, à partir d’une certaine dérive des mobilisations et des affrontements avec les forces répressives, bon nombre de ces jeunes étudiants finirent par faire un saut qualitatif dans leur militantisme, en entrant dans des organisations armées en vue d’une transformation sociale révolutionnaire. Ceci nous permet de réfléchir sur le processus de développement des organisations révolutionnaires et sur le rôle que celles-ci ont joué dans leur société et dans ce moment-là.</p>

<p>Abstract. This article analyzes the process of radicalization of the student movement in Uruguay in 1968, on the combined basis of its own tradition and those influences that gave rise to new ideas circulating internationally in that decade. This essay proposes a reflection on the motivations for students to militate in clandestine organizations It tries to understand why, from some deviation of the demonstrations and clashes with the forces of repression, many of those young students ended up making a qualitative leap in their militancy, joining armed organizations with revolutionary social transformation goals. This leads to reflect about the process of development of the revolutionary organizations and the role they played in their societies and time.</p>
